A training resource for all who teach French in Key Stage 2.

This DVD is an ideal resource for professional development, whether in a formal training setting or for private use by practitioners. Sections on the DVD include:

* a rationale for the inclusion of finger rhymes and action songs

* learn and rehearse . each rhyme is presented in short phrases to allow teachers to learn and practise as necessary

* classroom observation . this section shows the rhymes and songs being presented, practised or performed in the classroom.

Children can experience both enjoyment and challenge as they learn a bank of finger rhymes. The Key Stage 2 Framework for Languages suggests the use of finger rhymes for children in year 3 and 4. The experience gives children opportunities to:

* hear a text-level model of spoken French

* make eye contact with the person modelling the rhymèp> * memorise language at text level

* speak with a level of fluency

* memorise actions to accompany words and phrases

* mimic pronunciation and intonation
